Dedicated to the Preservation of Fine Art

Kitt Richards is a paintings conservator and the founder of Lazarus Art Services, specializing in the restoration and conservation of fine paintings. Guided by the principles of ethical practice, reversibility, and respect for original intent, her work ensures that each artwork’s story endures for generations to come.

Her training spans private studios, galleries, and museums, where she has treated paintings from antiquity to the present day. Kitt brings to each project a balance of technical precision and artistic sensitivity—combining scientific analysis, careful craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of art history.

Before establishing Lazarus Art Services, she served as Assistant Paintings Conservator at Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration in Chicago, where she performed surface cleaning, structural repair, varnish removal, and retouching on artworks for collectors, galleries, and institutions. Earlier experience with Art CPR and Lily Pad Gallery further shaped her approach to preventive care and client collaboration.

Every treatment is performed using archival materials, advanced imaging methods, and museum-standard documentation, in full accordance with the AIC Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. This commitment reflects her dedication to transparency, minimal intervention, and the long-term preservation of each artwork—so that art, quite literally, lives again.
